Alarm keeps going off !!

HELP!

My alarm keeps going off every 2 minutes.. I have now had to lift the bonnet and disconnect the alarm; it stopped beeping when I lock the car for some reason.( Confirmation Via Beep) and a couple of nights ago this started, and last night was the worst night’s sleep ever.. in the end at 3:30am I went out with screw driver in hand disconnected it" Much to my neighbours Joy" and proceeded back to bed with a high pitched noise whaling away inside my head for the forth coming hour ...

Any advice... I will Vag it later this evening and see what’s going on but has this happened before?

if you had any of the doors or boot ajar then that may have been the cause, or failing that it can be the back up battery in the alarm horn running low

Hmm but I have soft close.. it would just close the car, do they have a battery in the alarm do they?

If its the same as a D2 alarm horn they are "sealed for life" alarm horns with a battery in that eventually dies so you have to get hold of another one second hand with a better battery ideally or buy a new one :(

The car should beep? All my Audi's are silent . I only get the visual 2 flash for open, 1 flash for lock.

I doubt that a low alarm battery would repeatedly sound with the car locked up; you need to plug in VCDS to see what has been triggered.

For reference/comparison a low D2 alarm battery will make it sound a few times shortly after you turn the ignition on.
I replaced the batteries in mine a while back but the "chirp" on locking is getting decidedly pathetic now.....:-(

All configurable. ;)

You can set it to chirp upon locking on Vagcom which a few of us have done on D3's

What module do you code? I did look for the option but not extensively.

Cheers

At a certain age (again, assuming the same alarm as a D2 '8), the battery also begins to leak, all over the alarm circuit board, causing all sorts of weird behaviour, until it eventually corrodes enough of the PCB to stop working altogether.

It's a very common problem I believe, for Audis in general. I replaced my alarm unit recently (with a brand new one), after opening it up to find something like this, only mine was worse, and far beyond repair.
