f125 connector? where does it live?
Well recently this has been playing and sending the gearbox into safe mode when i go into reverse on a cold start. I have feeling the connector is at fault rather than the switch itself. I dont really space to get under the car at present but would anyone know where this connector lives n if it can accessed from the top?
Thanks Ranj |
Pretty sure it's attached to the gearbox side and is only accessible from below, with great difficulty. :(
There was a post just a couple of days ago from a relative newbie who has changed it - PITA job apparently. Here: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=9635 |
connector?
The switch is bolted to the side of the gearbox. Its only held on by two bolts but they are very easy to strip so has the potential of making this a night mare job in situ ....verging on impossible.....
But from reading the audi pages guide and what the new member said the pins in the connector itself corrode over time. So i m hoping to change just the pins in the connector itself. From memory i believe the connector itself connects to the engine loom somewhere around the gearbox ....i m just not sure where?....i was hoping someone here would know. |

I m really bad with pictures....can never quite work out whats going on.....it looks like the wire from the switch is attached to the underside of the gear box....is it going towards the front or back of the gearbox?

On a ramp, with the bottom plastic under-tray removed, it's relatively easy to get to. I've cleaned the connector a few times myself on my previous '8s. Fortunately (or unfortunately, however you look at it), the plastic under-tray was missing on my previous '8s when I bought them, meaning the connector was easier to get to. Without the protection of the under-tray, however, the contacts seem to be more vulnerable and prone to corrosion. |
thanks alot
Looks like the connector is fairly easy to get to....so that will be the first thing i will check. The s8 will be on car ramps this sunday.....my son should enjoy that....he is only 5 but already audi mad.....he insists on being chauffered in the s8 all the time.....
