For Sale: Full set of five S8 D2 Pre-Facelift Avus 18" alloys (with centre caps)
 

As noted in a couple of threads, these were my winter wheels until I moved up to 20's for summer. Part number 4D0 601 025N.
The FL Avus 18's that came with the car are now my winter set.

All run true and have had no repairs. Four OEM centre caps with all fixings intact and minimal surface markings - you really have to look very close to see any at all.
Two wheels were refurbished two winter seasons back and are in excellent condition with trivial witness marks from tyre fitting. The other three have been refurbished to match:

I am looking for about £800 collected on the basis that these wheels sell for about £125 each with kerb rash, more when refurbished and the centres are very difficult/expensive to acquire.

Originally the other three had varying degrees of kerb rash at the edge with paint peeling back from that. The faces were generally good.
One of those three (used as the spare, bottom left I think in the "before" photo below) also had paint peeling elsewhere and seems to be a slightly different colour.
As there's no obvious physical damage on the faces (away from the edge) I can only assume this was a poor respray/refurb before I got them.

The top 2 in the photo below I had refurbished at BJV in Flaunden and they've seen 2 winters service as winter wheels since.
I mounted them on the offside to protect them, so they have only a few minor marks and are effectively perfect.

For that photo I'd only cleaned quickly with a jet washer.
Today, in the sun, I had another look at the best 2 and used a little meths to remove the obvious tyre/valve rubber and tar spots.

Now I'd say that, apart from some tiny witness marks from tyre fitting, they are both immaculate and really sparkle in the sun +++ :

So, no need to refurbish either of these unless you want a different colour all round or the finish can't be matched (very unlikely). :cool:

I'd appreciate some opinions please.
Would there be more interest if I refurbished two (or even three) of these so that they all matched?

I can easily go back to the same place that did the "perfect" two to ensure an exact match. If I did which would be best:
1. A full set of five in refurbished condition (admittedly two not quite "virgin")
2. A matching set of four plus a fifth (spare) with some kerb rash, but at a slightly lower price (£50 less?).
3. Leave "as is" so that a buyer can choose their own colour/finish.

I know which way I'm leaning, but am seeking opinions. ;)

Update: Decision made. The three poorer wheels are now away being refurbished and as of next week all five will exactly match and be in perfect condition. +++

Asking price will be £800 including the centre caps.

All wheels are now refurbished to the same colour, which is BJV ( www.wheelrefurbishing.co.uk ) Silver No4 a relatively "sparkly" finish.

Just a reminder, these are nicely stored in my garage ready for the right buyer.

All 5 are in excellent refurbished condition, no repairs and with a full set of four matching Avus centre caps.
I'll probably put them on eBay eventually, but I'm in no rush and would rather they went to a "discerning forum member". :cool:
