For me a 'proper' old school RS should be an Avant, but that's because I remember the RS2 and it had massive appeal when new. I imagine I'm not alone, but can't disagree with IT that most Avants are likely to have done some tip runs! But frankly I'll be loading one up with racing gear and holiday stuff, but I'm very particular about HOW it gets loaded so nothing gets marked. At the moment my S8 gets used, but you'll not see any marks on the back seat, doors or boot as a result

I test drove a W8 estate years ago - was the dog and tip run wagon for a bloke who had a multiple car garage, so he treated it as you'd expect. Lots of paint damage on the rear bumper, scuffed wheels, cheap tyres, but it got serviced regularly. I wouldn't buy it (largely because it wasn't fast enough to justify the fuel and maintenance bills!) and I'd ignore an abused RS6 too.

Only way to know is to have a look and if there's no evidence of abuse then all good.

Ian's is defo better vfm if a saloon is viable
