They have quoted me £995 for a complete rebuild of the gearbox and torque converter and can have it all done in 3 days. I have searched them and they come up good on forums and are part of this company. http://www.vmtp.co.uk/
The fact they are a ZF agent and the service I received over the telephone from the gearbox specialist leads me to believe this is a good company. The 12 months warranty isn't as good as JT automatics but these guys are only 20 mins from where the car is now (AVP) whereas JT are 2 1/2 hours away so transport costs could sting me and I don't know much about JT auto transmissions either..
Tony, I think the next discount you could perhaps work on could be these guys? I could ask them depending on the service I get.
