So there I am last night in the garage tinkering.. not with the car but with fitting it into the garage better. Anyway having driven out, moved some stuff and then driven back in I swear I can smell that melting / burning plastic smell and am thinking bloody hell, what under the bonnet is melting now.. maybe I have had the car idling around too long. etc.
Nope - glance right just in time to see the drivers mirror eject some small flames and loads of smoke!! - it seems the PCB grid-backing of the mirror for auto dim (I assume as there were 2 sets of wires attached to it) has given up, shorted and set about torching the car! Luckily I had a screwdriver handy and got the mirror out and extinguished the small fire before the mirror pod melted! Un clear mobile pics attached..!
