I would try the rubber hose first, must be very cheap, especially if you can find one second hand.
Or you could duct tape the split temporarily for testing
With everything connected, MAF reading should be around 3.5 to 7g/s at idle and close to 250g/s near 7000rpm!
But broken rubber must have produced an un-reliable reading for you, 0.56g/s is very low.
Also you could try cleaning the MAF. Use Isopropyl Alcohol. If you can find a glass fibre brush for cleaning electronic contacts, try gently scrubbing the metal maf element with isopropyl to remove any oxidation on the element. You will need to chop down the brush to be able to get into the gap to reach the heated element.
However if something else in the MAF has failed this wont help. May be worth a try as a temporary measure before your new MAF arrives.
