If they are the same as those on the 3.0TDI, they don't last very well. My old 2004 D3 had 3 sets replaced by the time the car was 8 years old. When the 3rd set were being fitted, the glowplug on cylinder 5 would'nt budge. The garage advised leaving it as it was a cylinder head off job if it broke insitu. They had tried heating, freezing, penetrating fluid etc. but were reluctant to go past a certain torque value.
I had the car for 2 more years and it was perfectly fine with 5 working glowplugs. I got the glowplug warning light disabled in the dash as the flashing light would annoy the hell out of me.
I normally would not opt for such a bodge but I was reluctant to risk having to remove the head on a high mileage car that wasn't worth much.
I would be careful about who you get to replace them if you are'nt doing it yourself.
