Always interesting to hear your views on tyres, since they've saved me a fortune in the last few years. Comments on the above below:

Me too (now...)
(2) My experience with Pirellis is that hey are OK when new(ish) but performance drops off sharply as they age, 3-4 years old to the manufacturing date and the grip drops off, especially in cold and wet.
Must test this with my Fiat Coupe. My "dailies" are S/H Toyo proxes, which are fine, but my "show" wheels have P Zeros, all pretty much with unworn tread - but manufacturing date of 1104 - i.e. 12 years old now I wonder what they'll be like when they go back on the car?
(3) My favorites are Michelin, great new, no noticeable drop off in performance as they age and lasts very long. I have recently bought a set of unused old stock Michelin Alpin A4, almost 3 years since manufacturing for our A6 for £200.
Couldn't agree more - Michelins have always been my first choice, new or S/H. Supersports for the summer and PA4s for the winter are what I use on my S8. My SH Dunlop SP Sport Maxx's are ok as backups for the MSS's, but I wouldn't choose those ahead of the MSSs.
(4) Continental seem to age better but they are not that great to start with but they do last for a lot of miles of abuse and have predictable and progressive loss of grip instea of sudden loss.
I've just finished my first year on Contis on my Tesla, and would probably now rate them up alongside the Michelins
