Yup, but for those very reasons if it is beyond them then the insurance company will be used to sub-contracting to a dealer..... The sooner you report it the better, but if you start making wiring changes it will be unlikely they will touch it.
My guess would be could be as simple as a coding issue in any case - I know on a D4 it would require re-calibration which is dealer only
