I'd certainly second that advice - my A8L suffered from a broken/snapped NSR coil spring a couple of years ago. I replaced both as a precaution. I got away with it, according to the garage where I had the work done. A previous customer who had a similar problem in a Megane was met with a £1200 plus repair bill when the spring snapped and became dislodged, destroying most of the rear brake caliper/hoses etc. including the rear wheel arch liner.
