Default Think I've got a leaking strut

The last two mornings that Ive driven to work the yellow warning lamp on the dash for the suspension has been lit for the first half mile or so. Ive stuck it from dynamic to comfort and the light has gone out on both occasions and has only returned the next morning.

I haven't used the car since thursday night and it looks like its sitting much lower than usual at the front now although it doesn't seem to have changed since yesterday. There is about an inch between the top of the tyre and the wheel arch (18" wheels). I'm not sure if this is it sitting on its bump stops or if it will get lower yet. I'm not planning on using it again until tuesday morning so I will see if it drops any more i that time.

What exactly is the processs for leak detection on the airbags? Does lifting the car up to its max height using the "lift" option on the MMI suffice or is the jacking mode that I've seen referred to consist of a further height adjustment that is only available with VCDS? I presume that the dust covers just come off the strut and you can easily get in about the airbag with leak detector spray and it will all be very obvious. Do you do this with the wheels on or off?

Also, how do i know when the compressor is running and how often should it run normally? The compressor runs silently so I have no idea how much it runs to maintain the ride height. Does the up arrow on the suspension screen on the MMI go solid whenever the compressor is running for instance?

Obviously I want to get this sorted ASAP before the compressor or relay end up getting burnt out, so as usual, any and all help will be gratefully recieved.
