I was in Bielefeld last week and did my usual tour of my old haunts.
1 Corps HQ used to be in the barracks nearest to town and the second barracks now houses the current HQ Germany.
All the married quarters at the rear of the first barracks are still occupied by UK military. All the facilities in the first barracks including the NAAFI family shop are no more, and the rear part has had new houses built for the local population. Rather strange because where my electrical workshop was is now somebody's garden. The main entrance/guardroom is now a school, again for the locals.
