I'd concur, a bose amp is a bose amp for as long as I can remember......
The only weird thing I recall about more highly specced cars is that the earlier facelift, with phone prep, had the Music audio routed to the Bose amp for all 4 channels as you would expect, but for handsfree phone (and I think sat nav directions ?) it used a small speaker at the base of the B pillar that was driven by the internal head unit amp itself.
It was a weird design and thankfully they threw it away later in the facelift and routed all noise through the amp as you'd expect....
Still, doesn't really explain why it would cause them a problem, as they could just ignore said speaker so its surely some other reason.....
