Very interested to see if you have a sensible solution to this, both my lumbars leak, but as noted in another thread a lump of foam slid behind the centre back section is a pretty good substitute.
My conclusions, testing but with limited access, were:
1. It's almost certainly the valve unit that's leaking. (Smaller rectangular item in your picture)
2. I can just about reach it but after looking at a dismantled seat at MJs last year decided it was a PITA job "for another day".
3. I bought a spare valve unit anyway and will try to jury-rig it in sometime. You can just about disconnect the pipework and wiring without taking the seat apart and possibly place the replacement unit lower down leaving the original in situ.
4. Taking the seat apart and especially putting it back together is not a job for an amateur!

Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course.  (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
