I only got a couple of hours on the engine today due to other stuff so stripped off the timing gear and bracketry.

The previous belt change was done with genuine parts but without the locking tools - note the paint spots



With the crank locked, the cams weren't lined up. The timing gear is not very old so it'll all be going back on but this time with the bar.



The crank pulley bolts were replaced last time which is a bonus



The thermostat was in upside down! I wasn't planning on touching this, but the radiator hose was dribbling much more than normal so it needed to be investigated. The little feature at 6 o'clock is a vent which is supposed to allow the system to bleed air through the thermostat when cold (otherwise the stat gets airlocked and won't open). It's supposed to be at 12 o'clock since that's where the air is



After that I got slightly distracted and made a radiator pressure testing tool



Hook up to the tyre inflator and check for leaks...
