The updated seal has an extra lip on it which makes no discernible difference to anything, other than it won't fit with the original flange.
Original flange: needs the original seal
Updated flange: works with either seal
Was it all cleaned up properly? Could it be residual oil still dripping or is the new seal definitely leaking?
The front output flanges can also leak, and while in motion the oil can fly backward and catch the exhaust and cats, although its rare they leak this much.
