Its margin of error, so yes it can go both ways, your 1/4 mile is anywhere between 13.41 to 17.19. If Car and Driver really did do 0-60 in 5.8sec (maybe there's a technique to launching an auto?), thats almost the same time as Mike posted (Toby's times) on Tyresmoke at Inters (5.78s)

His 1/4 mile was 14.4s

So if the S8 and ultra-light A8 0-60 times are the same maybe the 1/4 mile is too. Although I do agree with you that the age of a car will have some effect.
