At first I was buying special tools from German e-bay as dealers would not sell them even so the prices were actually cheaper from dealers then on e-bay. They would give me a price but could not sell said they are for internal use only.

Later I found small local authorized VW van and commercial vehicle service center who were happy to sell any special tools and was cheaper then e-bay and I did not need to pay any postage. They have since joined another VW dealer and moved and cannot supply any tools anymore.

I know there was EU rule that made car manufactures and dealers to release information regards emissions control available to third party garages. And there was another law pushed through EU government that would force them to release other repair information and sell special tools to enable fair competition to smaller individual garages and lower prices for end users. I don't know if they succeeded with that. I know dealers still don't sell special tools but if the law was brought into force I would just love to come into dealers with a piece of paper with a law telling them to offer special tools for sale.

Anybody know more on this subject or alternate places to get reasonably priced special tools apart from e-bay?
