Default Is this curtains for the 'box?

How are you all, it's been awhile.

The car has been back on the road for 4 days after a 12 month lay up.

As I'm parking the car tonight the 'box feels a bit weird and I get the red lights of death as I shift from reverse to drive. I turned the ignition off and then on again and the lights stayed off.

Vagcom shows:

17090 - transmission range sensor (F125): Implausible signal.

The Ross Tech Wiki says

Possible Causes

  • Failed Multi-Function Transmission Range Switch (F125)
  • Wiring harness issue between F125 and TCM
  • Failed TCM
  • Shifter cable incorrectly adjusted
Possible Solutions

  • Inspect wiring harness between F125 and TCM, repair as needed
  • Replace Multi-Function Transmission Range Switch (F125)
  • Replace TCM
  • Check shifter cable adjustment
  • Check Measuring Blocks for F125 readings
Anybody had this fault and if so can you explain the above in English

Gutted and about to be massively skint me thinks.
