Guy,

Steering wheel heating is controlled by driver heater switch. There is a separate wire between driver heating switch and MFSW control unit and it basically tells control unit if heating switch is in non-zero position.

So, if both wheel heating and driver seat heating are playing, then I would make conclusion something is wrong with the heating switch and it is easy to change the switch when you remove your rns-d. I've removed my heating switch recently when upgraded to heated MFSW.
