Not easy to get replacement aftermarket monitor headrests for the 2001 S8, due to the electric operation.

I believe they are available though, as an OEM replacement from Audi. They were an option on the A8L 6,0 W12, and probably the run-out production S8 circa '02. Like the ones below:
