After doing a PhD in genetics, I started off as a scientist (microbiologist) in the Public Health Laboratory Service, but moved into marketing after a few years. Now work as head of marketing & sales for a small biotechnology company that span out of Strathclyde University 5 years ago. About to launch our first product - a multiplex diagnostic system for infectious disease.
Now that usually stops converstaions dead in their tracks!
