P40 was wonderful stuff, but a swine to get off your fingers!
Always smoothed it down (after newspaper/ chicken wire/ whatever I could lay my hands on) with a plastic bag, & left cling film over it (smooth surface - less sanding)
Much better than having to mix up A & B resin & soaking it up into fibreglass matting, which I did before the advent of P40/ isopon/ plastic padding

My better cars were repaired with lead....... now that's a dying art.
(I fully understand Ton up kid's comments re sculpture, my piece de resistance was on a Mk 1 flat bonnet Capri, being quite tall the only Capri I could just about get a reasonably comfortable driving position, my head clear of the roof with a reclining seat & extended wheel boss!)
Wouldn't dream of bodging steering or brakes though
