I have to disagree, have a look at the gear ratios of DGV vs FTF closely. 1st gear & 2nd gear are the same. 4th gear is the same.

Gear----DGV----FTF
1st------3.5----3.5
2nd-----1.889--1.889
3rd-----1.320---1.231
4th-----1.034---1.034
5th-----0.857---0.667
6th-----0.73----0.561

3rd gear I'll give you that one, at 30mph, 2000rpm for DGV vs 1865 for FTF, although its close.

5th gear debateable, at 50mph 2100rpm for DGV vs 1634rpm FTF, I think thats good, otherwise with the DGV you would always go into 6th for anything over 40mph. This way at least you get to use 5th in some cases, and give 6th a rest.
Anyway didnt you change your 5th to a TDI 5th?

6th gear FTF we all agree on I think, thats why everyone wants a 0.56 6th. No point in sitting at 3000rpm at 70mph.

Also, remember, you will be at least 70kg lighter and have less drivetrain lossess.

Considering you already have a 5th and 6th of more useful ratio installed, and that you have a chance of getting these TDI gearboxes from the UK (around £400) rather than waiting for a rare DGV from Germany for 1500 euros, I think its well worth it.
