Well now I am TOTALLY confused.

I've just taken delivery (thanks A8parts )of a 4D0 035 530 aerial unit with the "old type" connectors, with the original aim of dismantling it just to use the connectors.

But looking at it I really have NO IDEA where it goes and what it does!
It has no external power supply and only has 6 active sockets (of 8 - 2 have nothing behind them). It happens to have a few "cut off" leads/plugs with it, I presume originals as they've been cut (though one has been snapped out).

One group of 4 sockets have "thin" leads, so I "presume" these are TV aerials - but are they input or output? Logic says they should be the leads from 4 diversity aerials, but my TV tuner has 4 leads to it. And it really wouldn't make sense to have 1 aerial lead into a box like this leading to 4 to the tuner - or would it?

The other conector block only uses 1 and 4. #4 has a thin TV-type lead and #1 a stub of thicker coax that could be a radio lead?

So my interpretation of this box is that it takes input from 4 aerials and feeds a radio signal down one cable and TV down another. Power must come from outside somewhere, up one of the cables. I'll open it up soon to see if that gives any clues.

This does make me wonder how my car is wired up?

Thoughts anyone?
