Quick update. Dave at A8 parts had the car in again this week and tried re-running MMI update discs. Disc 2 found more stuff to do although it should have run fully the first time and once completed the blue tooth phone module is now back. We also decided to switch off the battery meter and fully charge the battery and recode it as new to the car. Upshot so far is battery has lasted overnight without dropping to level where the alarm led's stop flashing for the first time since this began and I am now able to leave it parked without removing MMI TV tuner fuse. I'm still not fully convinced we have sorted the problem of the battery drain until a few more nights have passed but its looking promising and to be fair to Audi the mmi upgrade and disabling of the battery meter is what is recommended in the TSB to sort the battery drain problem.
