Great news! 
I'm planning to have my gearbox serviced at Mackies regularly now as mine has been much better since the recent service (even though I thought it was OK before the service). It feels smoother and quieter.
But at £2.5K, I'd go for a rebuild if it needed it as I think my car is now a 'keeper', almost regardless of cost (just don't let SWMBO know that!)
