It's a bit of a bugger as I planned to fit an electric rear blind and a solar sunroof not to mention heated rear seats. I've got all the bits. I assumed that the 'universal' loom was lurking with unused perhaps blanked off connections just waiting to be plugged in. It would seem that this might not be the case

I think you probably will have the full loom, and heated seats, blinds etc should be easy enough. I'm not sure however that autodim mirrors existed in 1996, which is probably why you have no connector
Check behind the blanks on the dashboard for wiring connectors. If you're Pre 1997 fully prewired, there will be connectors there doing nothing right now....
