Well, I'm starting a 3 week comparison of Shell V Power Nitro (still makes me laugh!) vs BP Ultimate.
I took a detour to a Shell station last night and wasn't surprised that I wasn't greeted by forecourt staff carrying 10p per litre vouchers. Nor was I surprised when the cashier looked at the 5p voucher like it were a lost Egyptian scroll. So I paid the full £1.399 p/L and put in 73.26 litres.
Now, I have well over a year's worth of data on fuel consumption in my car, covering every single top-up since I bought it. And it's almost always BP Ultimate. So, for well over 22K miles, it's averaged 21.20 mpg (from the odometer and pump volume, not the DIS computer). My weekly use of the car is pretty much the same week in and week out: 5 days to the office on the A82/M8; a couple of runs after work to the pool; and a single run into Glasgow for an evening class (a creature of habit indeed! ).
And I use pretty much a tankful a week over around 350 miles.
Let's wait and see!
