I also have similar symptoms very occasionally. Always when the car is "part warm" having been left for maybe an hour or so after use.
Cold it's always fine. Used recently ditto.
And the "old school" "just floor it" trick always works if it won't fire after a few seconds of starter motor. 
Spoke to a friend of mine "in the trade" and he reckons it's not uncommon and due to a slight fuel leak from the injectors into the cylinders, usually when/after turning off.
When cold it's not a problem as it needs to be richer and when hot it stays as a vapour.
Not worth bothering about he says, just floor it when necessary to get started.

e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course.  (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
