When my PF GPS aerial failed I "plumbed" the cheapo replacement in to the wiring at the aerial connector in the boot lid via a rather circuitous route along the struts that was not visible externally.
The cable I hid in the seal around the boot lid and actually placed the aerial externally at the very base of the rear screen. Good signal. 
It was immediately in front of the OEM aerial, but much smaller and sitting on the black glass edge, so was not visible at all unless you stood alongside the car and looked down between the front of the boot lid and the rear screen.
The connector in the boot lid, for the fly lead to the OEM aerial, was of a type that is no longer used for "standard" GPS aerials, so I cut the cable and fitted an extra M/F junction in so that it could be used either with "modern" leads or just replugged back to the OEM type.
PS This was some years ago, possibly before A8parts were in business (certainly before I knew of them!) and a new OEM aerial was well over £200, nowadays I'd probably go to them for a "used" OEM aerial.

Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
