If you do remove the DPF make sure the gubbins are all still in place, or at the very least you can bolt it back in. It's likely the MOT will eventually catch up to require it to be there, or at least look like it's there  It's a requirement in law for it to be there as it's part of the original type approved emissions control equipment, but at present they don't check it at MOT beyond the standard smoke test.
Also be aware if you reduce the back pressure that much you may have issues with turbos at a later date if they become prone to sooting up due to lack of temperature generated by the DPF's back pressure and regeneration cycle.
