Cycle To Work scheme: best bike for £1k

Thinking of taking this up - stalled back in June when I last had an opportunity. Want a good stiff road bike for my hefty 6'5" 16.5stone frame. Websites keeps drawing my eye back to the Giant Defy 1, but don't have a clue really. Am restricted to halfords and cyclesolutions.
