Touring orientated bikes are more comfortable for long haul. Not sure what Halfords and Cyclesolutions have available but will have a look later


Here's a tip
If you are buying from Halfords join British Cycling (basic scheme) costs about £21 for the first year, you will then be able to get a 10% discount from Halfords, then wait until they are doing the 10% discount promotion, there have been a few in recent weeks, then use a Quidco voucher for a further 3% off. This should bring the price of a £1000 bike down to under £800 and the savings can pay for helmet, lights, shoes, lycra etc.
