Maybe this forum/A8 Parts could produce a forum membership disc to replace the tax disc? Then those with new disc-holders wouldnt need to throw them out. 
Our german friends at A8 Freunde have a neat "www.a8freunde.com" sticker which does the same thing. It lets people know where they can catch up with similar, like minded people. .... if thats a good thing? 
One for The Laird perhaps? We could hand them out at the summer meet.
