Default Facelift Xenons - advice please

Hello there.

I replaced (or rather my garage replaced) the front passenger side self-levelling headlight sensor arm, sourced through our forum's sponsor a while back. I suspect that this delicate little item fractured its plastic arm due to the work performed on the car when my distribution block on the chassis rail started to cause problems. It was full of grunt and needed cleaning. Anyway, I digress. Suffice to say, my dashboard light is still on!

My two-part question is this: Does the calibration definitely need to be run on a VAGCOM unit, and also is there any chance that the unit supplied has been fitted incorrectly?

Whilst browsing t'interweb, I discovered on a VAG forum that someone had managed to fit the sensor pointing one way when it should have been the other way round. Does the Audi unit only fit one way? I'm sure that my fellow learned colleagues on here will clarify things for me ;-)

P.S. Whilst it's not raining, I'm going to tackle my age-old problem of the headlamp washer jets not popping up/activating.
