Well, all good. No problems with excess metal on the magnets or filter. Apparently all looked fine. All fluids used are ZF.

First thing i noticed was that the thump on moving into drive had disappeared then the moving off and subsequent gear changes were as smooth as silk. Definitely a good result and I am sure that it is not just subjective wishful thinking.

Whilst having a word with the main man, he remembered Tin Tin (oh, the Black car bright red seats ) and asked whether I had been to the open day (organised through the Jag forum). Talked about "sealed for life" boxes. Basically said it was load of b*ll*x (as most on this forum know) and that the oil does deteriorate and and that 40k / 2 years was a suitable interval. Also that later 6 speed boxes should now use the same ATF fluid as the 8 speed (along with having the software changes) which I think is generally known.

All in all, a good day.
