In my case all I can say is that in my dictionary there is no such a word like economy, good mpgs or any of that.
Yes, it is not 5.2 or 6.0, but it's not 1.2 Fiesta.
I do not drive to work, I work about 20m to work, I don't do high mileage at all, but I still spend in the region of £4200+ on petrol

....and I'm happy, happy happy happy, especially when I can smell petrol each time filling up
On motorways, it's very very very very very hard to stick to one speed or drive in CC mode. Min speed would be 80.
Motorway mpgs. If I stick to 70 then approx 30-32mpg.
Usually 26mpg.
City. average 12-16mpg, on a quiet day 18mpg
Twice I decided to went through a murder and I drove across London 36miles one way (morning time 6:30am-7:40am and afternoon 1pm-3:20pm), to check my best mpgs around city. 1st to 2nd @ 2000rpms, and other gear after that, shift up @ 1500-1600rpms, MPGS: 23 and 22
