Took it to Audi Technik, which is close to where I work (well, they picked it up and returned it). Parts were £846 (plus VAT), but that included a non-Audi water pump and thermostat and £324 for the throttle position thingy. Labour was just £164!
The new throttle position thingy has made a heck of a difference to the throttle response. I'd noticed that there was often a bit of 'hesitation' in the throttle response, but nothing that really bothered me. But now it feels like a cable - absolutely instant response and very smooth.
