Now I am trying to put the car back together properly, and failing miserably.
I have got the CD changer back in place, all clipped in nicely but the AMI does not want to play ball. The module seems to be getting pivoting on something in the front of the slot, I can get either the left of the right side in but not both at the same time. I've tried applying pressure dead centre but it refuses to go click into place. Its not the wiring or fibre in the way, its something in the front of the glovebox slot or on the AMI itself getting in the way.
To make matters worse I cannot now remove the changer, the removal tools cannot seem to get a good hold on the metal tag on the changer. The same tools seem to get a good purchase on the AMI ones. When you push them into the changer, they appear to engage but when you pull they just come out again. My only concern is that something has caught on the back of the changer, thus causing it to sit slightly off distorting the slots slightly.
I was hoping to remove the whole kit when I sell the car, but unless I can get the changer out that is not going to happen now either.
So to summarise, the AMI will not fully locate in slot 2 for the reasons above, the CD changer is clipped into place fine but now cannot be removed.
