well , nothing to stop you SORNing it for the moment and see what turns up ; the age of miracles may not be past !
but as a final throw of the dice , why not contact your mechanic , explain that after his labours the car is now scrap , and ask him to double check that the fluid level is correct , stranger things have happened if the to and fro on the box hasn't had the desired effect during the fill
wouldn't take him 10 minutes and after £300 he can afford it !
