I haven't actually checked the subframe bolts - will do that tomorrow.
Are they the three or four straight into the car floor around the mounting plate?

I removed the rearward bottom link arm to subframe at the ball joint on hub and it seems to be firm at the subframe end.
The forward link arm however can be moved laterally along its bolt - I reckon the rubber bush should be bonded on to the bolt through the subframe?

Perhaps this is what is giving me the grief?

BTW I hate nounting new CV boots - the damned clips never stay on no matter how much degreasing of the inner lip of the boot and OD of CV joint you try. This is even an OEM clip, brand new.......
