If the battery is deemed low, certain things are disabled at startup such as heated seats and MMI - as it comes on later, it might be this.
Also, upon starting the car, the MMI will resume to whatever state (up or down) it was last time you used it, so if you closed it or it closed itself because you sat in the car too long it will stay closed the next time you start the car.
