And the maximum the insurance would pay out for it?? £5000ish i reckon. Let's be honest you could buy a D3 for that.

I really hope they sell it because i would be willing to part with my 8 for £7500, what a bargin. If i could an idiot to buy it. Is there a village out there that has lost one?

Well, stacked in its favour is the low mileage to be honest - Yes, you could get a D3 for that money, but with some miles on the clock, and not the kudos of having an S8, even if it is the 'older model'

It does look tidy, although its not a final edition, I think it probably is worth it if you want a mint, unmolested low mileage example....

Under 100K on the clock is worth more, under 70K worth much more, and in the 50's, well, you can name your price because someone will pay it...

It's had 3 previous owners. I'd rather a higher mileage and one owner. With three and average of 7k a year, its pushing credibility.
Are the centre caps missing off the wheels?

Dealers on forecourts usually take them off so people don't knick them. Its quite poor of the the guy not to pop them on for the pictures though if that is the case. I agree with Ian on prices, I posted a 02 S8 up with 44k miles for £10k which may be worth a look over this.

More likely something like Demo, + 1 higher miler for 3 years + some old gent used it for pootling for the last 6 years....

One owner on an older prestige car is almost unheard of - If you can afford a 60K car, you can afford to update it, so you change it after 12-24 months, you dont want to be seen in the last years model...

We had an S8 2 years ago with sub 30K on the clock, so at 6 years old it has averaged less than 5K / year, and you could tell.... It was very tight...

Center caps are in the boot by the looks of it....

Mine was a one owner with 55K on the clock when I bought it - he had just retired and treated himself to a nice car.
After 8 years of ownership, his eyesight was failing him, so it had to go!!

Down side of being old and going blind is the car is full of scratches.....

Here's another Ian.
My Brother in law is selling his 2001 51 Merc S320. Had it from new, and only covered 34k miles. He can afford pretty much whatever he wants but can't be ars*d. Most of his miles go on his wife's X5 and then Toe-rag. Which is why, I guess, he's replacing the S with an ML zzzzzzzzz!
When I'm in the market the cars that tick my boxes are those with minimal owners (preferably 1), non-interstellar mileage and dirty. Yep, the filthy cars are hiding some lovely, sparkly paintwork. Ideally I prefer to buy from the owner, then you can good idea how its been taken car of.

Oh yes. Best of all, the seller should be that famous disgruntled wife whose ex has called and told her to sell his pride and joy and send over the proceeds for him and his new crumpet to enjoy. I wish

Seems you are talking about the car I have just purchased

It's a long story, but the PO had the car for 5 years - not used very much etc. FSH and cambelt, tensioners done etc in 2005.

She's pretty tidy, and I have been on the lookout for one of these for a while.

I know someone that has one with just 24k on the clock - owned since 2001 direct from the dealer (demostrator), so know how a good one should feel.

I'll be hopefully picking the car up in a few weeks once various bits and bobs have been done.
