Default Defective Door sensor

My 2001 D2 S8 has developed a few electronic annoyances after years of trouble free motoring......

First is a rear door sensor seems not to be working - left side passenger door to be exact. Are these easy to locate and replace or is it a specialist job?

The interior light also seems to have lost its auto function - ie when you unlock the fade in / out doesn't happen anymore and when the light is on it doesn't switch off automatically. I've removed the bulb in the meantime as it just runs the battery down being on all the time.

Last one for now - the central locking works fine off the fob, but when I try to lock all doors from inside the car (drivers door switch) it no longer does this - any ideas?

The engine management light came on this weekend so probably need a visit to a Vagcom specialist as well. Just wondering if I should start considering replacing the S8, owned her for 7 years now.....only problems in all that time was last Decembers alternator failure and subsequent roadside collapse in awful weather. Subsequently quickly repaired by Ben (where is he now?)

She still starts and drives supremely smoothly and well, but would be nice to have fully working electrics / electronics again.

I think the sensors are in the door catch assmebly in the door, well they are for PF. Mine work randomly for the puddle and footwell lights. Interior lights work however. Don't think it's specialist stuff.

Not sure about the rest, plug it in.

Working for himself from a unit in Burton On Trent. I took my S8 there last month for gearbox filters and fluid replacement.

Call him on 07753 269337 I'm sure he'll be happy to hear from you.

The micro switches in the latch assemblies die, and the only salvation is a replacement door latch.

Not a hard job to do, I had the same issues on my '98 S8 driver's side rear door.
