Unhappy Was that a pothole....

...or debris on the road?

Whatever it was on the A82 around Dumbarton at about 6:55am (still pretty dark), it made a hell of a mess of my front near-side tyre (see picture).

The only good part of this, is that there was very little tread left, the new tyres are on order and I was going to fit my winter wheels this weekend anyway.

Planned mods: auto-dimming rear view mirror, dash cam (as steamship's), fit the ski hatch, refit philips drl's (or maybe not - nope, definitely not - horrible botch!).

Glad you kept it shiny side up after that, does look like there might be some alignment issues that need addressing though.

Not having much luck with wheels etc buddy looks like it might have been a blow out from uneven wear? as said above get the alignment checked out............... oh and glad you are OK as I still need your help with my alarm horn

That could be a structural failure rather than damage. It's separated over quite a length of tread and at a particularly stressed part of the tyre. Could be localised heat damage but I have heard reported that Vreds are susceptible to this type of failure

You could report it to VOSA accidents and defects as a potential safety risk. They'll want to be able to examine the tyre

I really couldn't be bothered with the hassle, but the tyres I have on order are Toyos, so no more Vreds for me.
