Germany Meet 7th-9th August 2015 - Who is interested in coming?
Friday 7th - Sunday 9th or Monday 10th August 2015
Audi A8 Freunde & A8-DE Combined Annual Meet (between 35 and 50 A8/S8's normally there!) Venue - Kassell, Germany Some people going may also like to pop into the Nurburgring on sunday and come home n Monday - there will be people doing both. Rooms cost €85 for a single/night including all food or €70 per person per night. Ferries: If we travel at 04:20 on the Friday morning it's £65, return at 08:40 on the Monday add £59 I may well be travelling on a Sunday evening ferry coming back and miss out the ring due to work. Fuel costs: example - It costs about 3 tanks of fuel in a 3.0Tdi, this is with some 'toe down' driving on the Autobahn on the return trip. LPG and super unleaded widely available The trip in Europe from Calais - Kassell - Nurburgring - Calais is approximately 850 miles (give or take a detour or two) so for anyone with a petrol V8 you'll be looking at about 3 tanks of fuel on the continent, and probably 1-2 in the UK depending on where you're driving from. Average fuel price for 98 RON in France is currently £1.08, in Germany it's £1.11 - in Germany they also have 102 RON fuel which has to be experienced to be believed, and costs probably 3-4p /litre more. So, if you're travelling from Manchester you'd be looking at these approx costs: 552 miles in UK - £208 850 miles in EU - £312 2 nights accommodation in Kassell - £123 Ferries - £124 This doesn't include laps at the 'ring, nor the accommodation at the ring, and any alcohol you may consume  We need to book rooms ASAP, so if you want a room, please let me know. Payment will need to be made with the booking, so please bear this in mind. Details can be sent to you once you've confirmed. There are currently 3 cars going, lets see if we can get a few more!! If anyone wants to come along in my car to share costs then that's also possible! Please let me know asap as there are currently 3 more hotel rooms reserved and being held at the meet venue which will have to be released to others within a week if not needed. Cars / Attendees: 1. The weekend before I'll be in Germany. If only I had planned that trip with knowledge of the Germany meet. Oh well...

We would love to attend, the German chaps grabbed me before they departed with an invite, plus Guy suggested it as well.
Unfortunately we have a prior grandkids event booked. Gwen is very good, suggesting that I go on my own. Last time I went to Germany on my own I ended up in intensive care for five weeks not very far from Kassel. Lovely area for anyone who has not been there before.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions and extended leather. Ski hatch retrofit. Aftermarket reversing camera. DVB-T and XCarlink now removed as redundant. 2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (Even rarer than a D2 S8!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!  Finally: gone, but not forgotten..... 1998 D2 PF S8. Agate Grey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, Tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon. Added Auto-dim mirror, Leather seats, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer. And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

I'm following this thread with interest.
Can *probably* do it, but I can't commit until I sort my German visa issues. Not interested in the Nurburgring part, only zee German meet on Friday-Saturday. I'll get back here as long as situation becomes clearer for me. Hopefully in 2-3 weeks time.
