Default Fault Codes 3.0 tdi

2005 A8 D3 SWB 3.0 tdi quattro

I was getting an intermittent engine management light coming on over the last 6 months. The quality of the drive has never changed and I had the faults cleared about 4 months ago (listed below). They came back after a few days but the EML can be on or off on different journeys. I could drive for 20mins with the light on, park up for 10mins, restart the car and it would be off and stay off for 3-4 days.

A couple of weeks ago it started to be on constantly - again you can't tell from the drive of the car. Here are the codes:

18395 - can't find list for this?

18277 - P1869 - Transmission Mount Valve 1 (N262) - 001 - Short to Ground

19804 - P3348/013128 - Control Circuit for Controller for Turbocharger 1 (J724): Electrical Malfunction

17985 - Right Engine Mount Solenoid Valve (N145): Open Circuit P1577 - 004 - No Signal/Communication Readiness

17953 - P1545/005445 - Throttle Valve Controller: Malfunction

My car also dropped it's charge earlier this week as the clocks had reset when I came to start the car in the morning.

Can the A8 really have all these problems at once? I don't understand how they can go off and stay off for long periods if a closed circuit is triggering a sensor? Am I missing something else?

Thanks for any help

Have you cleared the codes and what has come back?

Engine mounts are not uncommon, but for what they are there expensive, the turbo charger one is probably something to do with the actuator, don't know if it'll log that code from sticky vanes or the controller goes duff so it'll need investigating if it keeps coming back, the throttle valve is quite common due to the plastic cogs stripping inside it and bringing an EML light on, this will cause no performance issues as such just the MAF readings will be out on idle hence the EML, if you look back through the engine section iirc someone posted an eBay link for a throttle valve, myself and the poster have both purchased the same one and have no faults to report and working as intended.

Oh and one way to tell if the throttle valve if duff is when you shut off the engine it'll shake/rock slightly, the throttle valve also works as the shut off valve.

Thanks for the reply

I'm trying to keep the spend down as I want to straighten it out to sell it. I need a petrol car for a much shorter commute to work.....

.....plus I think I also need a rear caliper as the brake light won't go off since having rear pads done last month and it was set-up correctly with vagcom!!

I cleared the codes and they all came back. The Engine management light was still on too. That went off 2 days ago though and hasn't come back on again yet?!?

When I lift off the gas and cruise there is a slight juddering but I only really notice it at higher speeds - could this also be a symptom of one of the above problems too?

Thanks
