Default wow !

i was brought up in the engineering game
many years ago i flew over the Humber Bridge with my my boss in his cessna
watching them built it every 2 weeks
now that was an amazing sight

but this video and many more bridge building in the far east on youtube makes
the Humber Bridge look like meccano (well not quite it still is an amazing bridge)

thanks for sharing that

What happens to the guys left underneath the new section on the left after the machine has finished?

It's China; they probably get the honour of being allowed to stay there forever and guard the bridge against dragons.

China is developing at such a rate that it is economic for them to build machines to build the stuff that for most other countries would be a one off construction project. An elegant engineered solution.

This statistic regarding China puts their rapid development in perspective

If we take only top 5% of Chinese population (i.e. people with highest IQ level, like graduates of best universities with highest grades) that will be significantly more than whole population of the UK.

I work at a big automotive training complex (which sadly no longer includes Volkswagen School) and we send people out to train the Chinese automotive workers at Chinese automakers and dealerships...
We find that Chinese people can't improvise when things go off the script. They would find memorising the whole of EKTA quite normal, but if they were to snap off a seized glow-plug they would know that there was nothing in EKTA about that and just panic and give up. It is interesting to see their different approach and they admire us equally for being able to solve problems for which we have no knowledge or experience.
